About
Hi! I’m Avalon. Yes, that’s my given name! You can find me most days, posted up in a café somewhere, listening to Hozier or another Irish artist, drinking coffee, practicing Spanish, and stalking Skyscanner for cheap flights to a different country. Orrrr you’ll find me in the middle of a massive street market somewhere in Latin America buying avocados + watermelon, photographing an older woman magically balancing a basket of melons on her head, a family of four somehow all fitting on one single motorcycle, people jumping on and off buses before they even come to a complete stop, vendors shouting across one stall to the other to see if they can lend them diez córdobas to give back the right amount of change.
I love traveling. That feeling of pure excitement, stepping off a plane into a new place is a high for me. That pit in your stomach that is full of anxiety saying, wellll shiiiiit. Now I have to figure out how to get from point A to B by taking a train to one station, then a different bus and make sure you pay attention Av, because you have to get off at the 216 km marker, then hopping on a chicken bus to be dropped off on the side of the road, followed by walking a mile or so, having to ask for directions about every other block because I got myself lost? Yeah. That shit. And what makes this even more fun? Doing it all while communicating in a different language. A coworker once said, “Avalon, more like TRAVELon”. Hence, TravelOn Photography!
Okay, okay. Now for what you’re ACTUALLY here for. My photography style…
I try to create photos that, 10… hell 50 years from now, you can pick up and be transported back to that time. Seeing that photo from when you were 22 and your arms only had 3 tattoos, and now you look down and they’re completely covered. Or you and your then girlfriend sitting on the ground drinking whiskey, making out in front of the garage of your first place together. I’ve been told my whole life that I’m “too emotional”. You know what? FUCK that. I use that strength + empathy to capture every emotion that YOU’RE feeling and those little details that mean a lot. Sure, I’m gonna cry a bit during your ceremony but I also strive to make you feel like Bey & Jay in front of my camera. I’m your personal paparazzi. I’ll tell you how amazing you look, I’ll probably throw in a few compliments inspired by Jonathan Van Ness like, “Yas hennies, you are serving me “fierce lovers in love” vibes right now”. But also, quietly documenting the little moments in between. That wink he gives you after he runs his hands through his hair. Or that moment when your partner puts their hand under your chin, pulling you closer, THAT moment, right before that kiss. Oooooh that tension. I love those moments. That’s what I hope to capture for you.

Pouring rain, speaking Spanish, red wine, grainy, old photos with my mom’s handwriting on the back, tattoos, dirty alleys, rocking black jeans + a black top + a shitty, cruelty-free fake black leather jacket, anything moss covered, daydreaming about living in Ireland, bloody maria’s with friends, rooms lit only by candles, my three nephews that mean the absolute world to me, street photography and being a nice human.
